About Us

The team & our passion.

"Fashion should be a form of escapism, not a form of imprisonment." — Alexander McQueen

Our shop

SGB is the kind of shop you walk into and find yourself taking a deep breath. As you exhale, a quiet "finally" rises to the top of your thoughts. We get what you're here for — and we don't dabble in what you're not. You're here because you want a suit made proper.

You'll find us in Pioneer Square, Seattle — a neighborhood that walks the line of new and historic, full of realness, heart and grit. Just like us.

David Pew, Master Tailor

Pacific Northwest born, David was an unlikely candidate to fall in love with the well-tailored suits of old. The heart wants what the heart wants. He is a craftsman, an innovator, an investigator — and his work swims up-current against mass production, in service of suits made well, by people who are seen.

Our team

Our Seattle team of tailors and salespeople delivers the same care to our customers that we promise to one another. We guarantee thriving wages — not the surviving wages that dominate much of the modern industry — alongside benefits, flexible hours, and ample time off.

Transparency & generosity

"Money is like manure. It doesn't do any good if it's not spread around for young things to grow." — Dolly Levi

We work in 100% transparency about how our suits are made and by whom. Almost every modern tailor uses a Made-to-Measure process, whether they say so or not. We are specific about who makes what — and we've personally vetted our partner factories in Qingdao, the Czech Republic, and Romania to ensure fair wages, safe conditions, and adequate rest.

Sew Generously Galleries

Between the brick, the white walls, and the quiet hum of tailoring equipment, we hang a rich variety of art. Our curator Aidan Sakakini, alongside business manager Kaitlyn Pew, hangs three to four shows a year. Visit us on First Thursdays for the Pioneer Square Art Walk — there's usually a glass of something good waiting.
